My favorite listening bar in Tokyo, epulor means “to banquet, feast, dine.”

Here, it’s all about presence– being in the moment rather than lost in the many obligations and screens of our daily lives.

Hidden off a quiet side street in Nakameguro, you might just miss it if not for a small illuminated sign. People from all walks of life sit around the bar to enjoy a curated selection of music on vinyl, the smell of freshly-baked chocolate ganache cake in the air.

One of my most cherished solo spots in the city, I love coming to this moody bar to read, to write, and to discover new Japanese artists from whatever’s spinning that afternoon.

The perfect place to come on a date, solo, or just to enjoy the moment. Stop by in the daytime for a coffee, or stay until the evening for a drink. Either way, you’ll find it hard to leave the pure ambiance that is epulor.

"epulor stimulates all of the senses- creating a feeling you'll crave for days after visiting."
