Coffee takes on a new form at Lonich, short for “Leave our name in coffee history.”

This is not your everyday coffee spot- stepping inside, you may think you’ve instead happened upon an art gallery. The impeccably-designed minimalist interior is defined by the finest Italian espresso machines, the centerpieces of the space. Sleek shelves are lined with bottles of beans sourced around the world, from Yunnan Province in China to Cusco, Peru.

Behind the bar counter, coffee experts Toma and Katsumi will guide you along your journey. Playful with layering botanical flavors, you’ll sample honey process coffee beans fermented with lemon, elegantly complemented with a pairing of Chinese tea. For those who prefer milk, try Lonich’s rendition of a mocha, served in Japanese glassware that seems to defy physics.

Don’t leave without trying my favorite, the signature drink. Inspired by Go-mi, the Japanese philosophy of balancing five tastes, this coffee seamlessly harmonizes sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami flavors. Blackcurrant syrup and rich espresso are shaken until creamy, topped with delicate gold leaf, and served alongside cream cheese with rose syrup and edible flowers.
