A little local fishing village on the island of Lantau, Tai O is only 22 kilometers away from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong- yet it’s an entirely different world.

Here, the indigenous Tanka people live in stilt houses. A small community, life here is slow, with traditional markets, small shrines, and the production of plenty of dried fishes.

You can reach Tai O by bus or taxi from Lantau Island, though make sure to check bus schedules ahead of time.
